Interesting Electrocardiograms RATE-DEPENDENT BUNDLE BRANCH BLOCK
نویسنده
چکیده
These electrocardiograms were taken on a 36 yearold man, with no known cardiac abnormality. The twelve-lead tracing, which shows sinus rhythm at rates between 53 and 60/min., has abnormal T waves in Vl V4. A s{rip, using lead V6, shows the interesting phenomenon of rate-dependent left bundle branch block (LBBB). Please. note in this strip that the first four sinus beats have normal QRS-T waves. The head rates of these beats are of special interest as the sinus rate starting at 64/min. gradually increases, from 67 to 71/min. At the fifth beat (marked with arrow) the heart rate has reached 75/min. and LBBB appears. The rest of the beats, with rates of 77/min., also show complete LBBB. When heart rate dropped below 75/ rain. normal (narrow) QRS complexes were immediately seen. This sequence was seen repeatedly, with the crucial rate being 74-75/min. each time.

A 61 year old man developed acute pulmonary embolism while in hospital. His previous and admission electrocardiograms (ECGs) showed a typical left bundle branch block (LBBB) pattern. Immediately after the onset of acute pulmonary embolism, LBBB disappeared from his body surface ECG with sinus bradycardia, normalisation of QRS duration, prolonged QT interval, and marked T abnormalities to the ri...

The purpose of this study was to explore the feasibility of developing artificial neural networks that are able to provide confidence measures for their diagnostic advice. Computer-aided decision making can improve physician performance, but many physicians hesitate to use these 'black boxes'. If we are to rely upon decision support systems for such tasks as medical diagnosis it is essential th...

OBJECTIVE The antimalarial agents chloroquine (CQ) and hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) are used in long-term treatment of connective tissue diseases (CTDs). A high incidence of heart conduction disorders, including bundle-branch block and incomplete or complete atrioventricular block, has been observed among patients treated with CQ. Since no data were available for HCQ, we studied electrocardiograms ...
